Next page completed

This page is now finished too.
As said before, it introduces 'Yip' to the story.
He is a stretchy, frog-like creature that has no skeletal structure.

This is the completed version of the page 3 posts ago.
I had to build the cockpit of the 'Consumer' and render the scene. I then drew the two snamuh and finished off the page.
You may notice some script changes too.

A New Page step two

Gday everybody.
Here's the next step to this page.
I've began rendering the panels (you can see Min and Fin in the UMV as a rendered image before inking and additional colour.
I've drawn Yip to completion in panel two.
I like to work through the page panel by panel at this stage to keep the action flowing nicely. It's easy to workout potential problems as I go this way.
I still need to finish the previous two pages as well.

A New Page step one: Script

This page shows the first stages of a new page.
I work out the script here and have an image in my mind on how the panels will fit together and be tied in with the script and balloon placements. I have placed green 'notes' to myself.
I have tried to show two separate events occuring simultaneously by running the events 'side by side' down the page and finishing with one panel full of drama and danger.

More pages in progress

Gday everybody,
This is going to be the next page.
It is almost finished.
As you can see if I get an idea I often type it in as a note to myself so I don't forget it.
As each panel on this page progresses I'll increase the amount of falling leaves and vibration from the approaching 'Consumer'.
This page will introduce a new character, Yip.
I am always working on two or three pages at one time.
I think it helps the story flow and develop better than if I completed a page at a time.

A page in progress

This page is where I am up to at the moment. Here you can get an idea of how a page is put together. You can see the shapes of Min and Fin before and during the inking stages in the last two panels.
I have still not decided if the use of smoke seperates the first two panels well enough. I may have to resort to a more traditional framing method.
Juxtapositioning of each panel is very important and takes much moving and removing, positioning and repositioning, framing etc of not only panels and elements of panels but very importantly the text as well.
The speech bubbles have to lead the reader's eyes through the pageand through the action.
In this page also I introduce the word 'quelf'. It is the equivilant to Min and Fin of saying, 'man', as they are both 'quelves', or quelf in the singular.

Our heroes cross paths with the Snamuh

The 'Consumers' are the Snamuh tree strippers. Upon discovery of a forested planet a massive fleet of these ships are spewed forth from the bowels of the Corporate Raider to strip every tree and return the harvested timber to its belly to be turned into profit in the form of paper... a resource the snamuh can never get enough of.
The fleet is so huge it can strip an entire planet in a matter of weeks or even days.
